These saddle bags were offered from 1936 – 1941 for both Harley Davidson and Indian motorcycles in two types. A smaller option to the Large Hanger Bags, the measurements of these bags are: 11 ½” W, 12 ½” H, and 3- 3 ½” D.
#11785-X Type 1, used on 1936, 1937, 1938, and 1939, 1940, and 1941 models, is a brown tan cowhide leather. The bag can be secured to the frame, luggage rack or fender brace by two tie-back straps/ears located on the back of the bags. The bag has a separate flap cover piece which is riveted to the main body. The cover has four rosettes stamped into the lid and the name Harley-Davidson hand stamped, as well, in 1930s fashion. On the main body is a set of stylized wings. The cover is kept closed by three straps. 1940 was the first year for Glo-Brites.
#11785-2-X Type 2 is used on 1939-1941 models and is a black cowhide leather bag. It is just like Type 1 except for the color. It also mounts the same way.
