The Loc-Tite Saddlebags were available from 1947 – 1952. The Loc-Tite bags have a line of embossing on the bottom of the lid, and the nickel spots form a “V” shape on the body of the bags. The rosettes are layered as follows: bottom pointed rosette (not rounded) and are orange with a 1-inch washer, topped with a 3/4″ round orange rosette and a nickel-plated rivet. The Loc-Tite bags were still available as late as September 1952, although not shown in regular accessory catalogs, only in accessory lists.

The half-moon mounting plates were flat until 1948 and dimpled from 1948 and up.
All Harley-Davidson models, which had the half-moon mounting plates up through 1947 models to serial number 10050, were 5 holes (Heather’s Leathers Item #SB-3005-HD) and were then changed to the 4-hole design. The 4-hole spacing was 3.280″ – 3.250″ – 3.280″ (Heather’s Leathers Item #0189). Then, it changed sometime after this to the following spacing: 3 3/16″ – 3 11/16″ – 3 3/16″(Heather’s Leathers Item #0176).
