Speed King saddlebag #90994-53 used on 1954-1956 Big Twins. Made of smooth cowhide black leather with white welting, thick waterproof stiff rubberized cloth back. Dimpled 4-hole stainless steel half moon. The top of the cover has nine rectangular nickeled spots set in three angled rows of three spots. The sides of the cover have two speed ball with wing emblems (or "winged comet") which face the motorcycle's front. The three cover straps have slanted "speed" buckles which slant toward the motorcycle's front. Each strap is flanked on the motorcycle's front side by a large spot.
These Harley Davidson saddle bags were offered from 1950-1953. 1951 was the first year a stiffener bracket was put in the lid. Smooth leather was the standard material for these bags with red or white piping/welting on all years. Buckles were smooth and square. In 1952 Bags came in your choice of Black, Rio Blue, Persian Red, or Tropical Green Leather. (See Item #3-5253 for these colored bags!) 1953 had choice of white piping with white plastic fringe, we use white leather! 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953 had option of 1.5" white fringe.

These bags were offered from 1937 -1941for Harley Davidson Motorcycles and Indian Motorcycles. For these bags to be 100% correct the Harley Davidson Logo or Indian Logo on the lid is hand-stamped, not machine-stamped. The ears are riveted on. The bag is sewn inside out and then turned instead of being sewn outside. A smaller leather scuff plate is on the back. Typically available in natural dyed leather, or black leather.
These saddle bags were offered from 1936 - 1941 for both Harley Davidson and Indian motorcycles in two types. A smaller option to the Large Hanger Bags, the measurements of these bags are: 11 ½” W, 12 ½” H, and 3- 3 ½” D. #11785-X Type 1, used on 1936, 1937, 1938, and 1939, 1940, and 1941 models, is a brown tan cowhide leather. The bag can be secured to the frame, luggage rack or fender brace by two tie-back straps/ears located on the back of the bags. The bag has a separate flap cover piece which is riveted to the main body. The cover has four rosettes stamped into the lid and the name Harley-Davidson hand stamped, as well, in 1930s fashion. On the main body is a set of stylized wings. The cover is kept closed by three straps. 1940 was the first year for Glo-Brites. #11785-2-X Type 2 is used on 1939-1941 models and is a black cowhide leather bag. It is just like Type 1 except for the color. It also mounts the same way.
